The Twist

“One day news came to David that the Philistines were at Keilah stealing grain from the threshing floors. David asked the Lord, “Should I go and attack them?” “Yes, go and save Keilah,” the Lord told him” 1 Sam.23:1-2

David is a master of maneuver. Please read the story in 1 Samuel 23, it is an amazing read. David’s heart was for his people Israel even though he himself was on the run from Saul. The Jewish city, Keilah, was being attacked by the Philistines. So David asked for permission to help them. As soon as he got clearance from God, David engaged his six hundred men.

But David’s men said, “We’re afraid even here in Judah. We certainly don’t want to go to Keilah to fight the whole Philistine army!” So David asked the Lord again, and again the Lord replied, “Go down to Keilah, for I will help you conquer the Philistines.” 1 Sam.23:3-4. So David went and delivered the city from the hands of the Philistines. Of course helping Keilah exposed David and as soon as Saul heard about his location, Saul made plans to attack David because Keilah was a walled city. But David got the intelligence that Saul was coming and he knew that if he had allegiance with the people of the city, he would be fine; but he did not. And so David asked God, would these people betray me? When I read this portion of Scripture, my thoughts were, why should they betray you?

Sometimes, we assume that because we have helped people, they will help us. You assume that because you have been good to people, they will be good to you. Do not destroy yourself. Always, always inquire of the Lord – that is the key to maneuvering. Many people would have gotten angry because this is the same city they had just helped. But David did not do all that. David just packed his bags and left. There are people you need to pack your bags and leave behind because they will sell you. But God will not give you up to such people, in Jesus Name.

There is a supernatural twist to every battle and you must be able to hear God. Once you hear God, action! Audacity! Audacity!! Again I say Audacity!!! There is a spiritual twist to every battle and there are forces that can either be on your side or be against you. I pray that the forces will not be against you, in Jesus Name.

Prayer: Lord, I ask for the grace not to do things just because I can, but to consistently inquire of You for every step, in Jesus Name.
