The Way

“Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me” Jn.14:6 

If God has called you to do something and you do not do it, God will do everything possible to bring you to your knees. Ask Jonah. I can tell you stories, even my own stories but I have chosen to go the easy way. As long as God sends me, I will do it. Why? It is because God does not change His mind. He is not making things up as we go. He has already said this is what you will do and that is what you will do. You are most secured in the center of God’s will for your life. You do not choose many things when it comes to God. Thinking you have choices is in itself a waste of time. It is not for you to choose. But guess what? Your most secure place is right at that center even though there are no options.

 It is right at that center that is your most secure place even though there are no options.

Jesus says the man that lays his hands on the plough and is still looking for options, is not fit for the Kingdom of God. I often say to my colleagues in the church office that we do not have a job; we have a calling. Two different things! So we respond to our responsibilities as a calling. The most secure place in the whole of existence is heaven and it does not provide us with options. Heaven is not for everybody. Yes, Jesus is for everybody but heaven is not. Why? God has said there is only one way to Heaven; no options.

My earthly father taught me that heaven is like a market with many entrances. That was what he understood and that is what I embraced even though I was going to Church. But when I read John 14:6, I saw that my father was wrong. I did a research on the world’s major religions and in Hinduism, Krishna said, the truth is a very elusive thing. To gain access to the truth, you have to chant Krishna Krishna rama rama… and maybe you get a glimpse. But like a butterfly, the truth can fly away. Judaism- their key figure is Moses and he said in Deuteronomy, another prophet will come after me; Him should you obey. He was talking about Jesus. In Buddhism, Buddha on his death bed said, I am still in search for the truth. In Islam, Mohammed said, I am just a prophet pointing to the truth. All this information is in the public domain; you can Google it.

But Jesus showed up and said, I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but by me. No one else in history has ever made this claim. The most secure places in God do not have options. If you have embraced multi-lateral access to God like I once did, I am here to tell you that Jesus is the only way to the Father. Embrace Him.
