Secrets Things

But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory1Cor.2:7-8 [emphasis added]

If you check the life of Jesus, it is filled with surprises. The way Jesus was born was a surprise. Surprise to Herod. Surprise to Joseph and even to Mary. Imagine you are Mary’s father and your young virgin daughter comes to tell you she is pregnant. After you have calmed down and sharpened your cutlass, you would ask her who the man responsible is. If she says it is the Holy Ghost, how do you deal with that? Surprise!

When it was time for Jesus to choose His disciples, He chose sinners and unlikely people. In summary, Jesus picked surprises. His life was filled with surprises. Who was He dining with? Prostitutes. The Bible says she was kissing His feet and wiping them with her hair. When He missed the boat, what did He do? He walked on water. Filled with surprises. Even His death was a surprise. It was a surprise to the disciples. They said we thought you were the one to restore the nation of Israel. Surprise! Not me, at least not on this trip.

His death was a surprise to satan. They had no idea what the implications would be; it was a total surprise. Are you wondering how I know or if I am making these things up? I am not making them up. It is in your Bible – Read your Bible! “none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory” 1Cor.2:7-8 [emphasis added]. It was a surprise. God is a Master at keeping secrets and springing up surprises. When they were instigating the people to say, “crucify Him!”, they did not know. When they were slapping Jesus, beating Him and whipping Him, they had no clue. I can imagine the host of hell on the verge of expectation; looking and saying, “nail Him to the cross!”

Everywhere was tense; they were about to get victory or so they thought. They struck the nail in His wrist. One little demon started to jubilate, and satan said, “hush, we need to wait for Him to die”. And they waited and waited, the sun became black, there was earthquake and Jesus said, “It is finished!” And then He gave up the ghost. Hell began to rejoice. satan said, it is finished; we finished Him.

Prayer [song]: My Soul will magnify the Lord and my spirit praise His name. For death could not hold Him captive, even in the grave Jesus is Lord! Amen.
