Overflow II
“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows]” John 10:10 [AMP]
From death to life also means moving from spiritual death to spiritual life. So to have an abundance of spiritual life means that when spiritually dead people come in contact with you, they become spiritually alive. It means that people will come to Christ because of you. It means God’s life in you is overflowing into the lives of other people.
I experienced this personally years ago. I was driving a really old car and it broke down on a major road. I was upset and disgruntled. I opened the bonnet of the car but I did not know what to do. Then two men showed up from nowhere, claiming to be mechanics. If you live in Lagos Nigeria, and have had this experience, you would be familiar with these “mechanics” that always seem to know where and when your car would break down. So I stepped back to allow them sort out the issue but close enough to watch what they were doing. Suddenly, one of them began to cry, as in sobbing. He looked up at me and started to confess his sins. Then he asked me to pray for him because he was ready to accept Jesus.
I did not preach to this man and I was not even feeling spiritual so I had not even prayed. I was still puzzled at his actions when the other man joined him, also sobbing. In retrospect, that was an overflow of spiritual life. Both men gave their lives to Jesus that day; glory be to God. And guess what? I did not pay anything for the repair of my car. I guess you can call it a perk.
From death to life also means moving from depression to joy. You can be so filled with joy that when anyone that is depressed comes into your presence, they leave joyful. I am sure you have encountered such people. You are just filled with joy just from hanging out with them. Sadly, some other people are the opposite. No matter how joyful you are, you hang out with them, they will kill your joy and you leave them confused.
“And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth” Ex.34:6 [emphasis added]. God is saying His goodness is without limits. God’s goodness is inexhaustible.
Prayer: Jesus, I move from life to life abundant and I decree that life abundant shall flow and overflow through me and transform other lives for you, in Jesus Name.
