Not Alone

“When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up—the flames will not consume you” Isa.43:2 [TLB]

“Praise the Lord! For all who fear God and trust in Him are blessed beyond expression…  When darkness overtakes him, light will come bursting in…  Such a man will not be overthrown by evil circumstances.  God’s constant care of him will make a deep impression on all who see it.  He does not fear bad news, nor live in dread of what may happen.  For he is settled in his mind that God will take care of him.”  Psalm 112:1-8 [LB]. You need to settle it in your heart that God is with you and His plans for you are good and not evil. God is the only Father that you can guarantee will go through the dark place with you.

Acts 7 highlights how God was with Joseph. Imagine, Joseph was in slavery and the Bible says God was with him. Joseph was in Potiphar’s house cleaning dishes, and God was with him. Joseph was framed for a crime that he did not commit and God was with him. He had a bad record but God was still with him. He was imprisoned and God was still with him. By the time Joseph got to the palace, God was still with him. Many of us think God is only with us when we are in the palace and until we get to the palace, God is not with us. You may be in Potiphar’s house, or in the pit where your brothers have left you for dead, or in prison, or perhaps in the palace. But regardless of the “P” you are in, God is with you. Refreshing!

You must realize that God is with you right where you are. You must realize that when you feel most alone, isolated, or abandoned, in that very moment God is closest. And guess what? Joseph was not just one lucky man that God favoured. There are others in Scripture. “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”  Ps.34:18 [NIV, emphasis added]. In God’s Favourite House, we do not give false hope. Some things are going to take time, period! You may be going through a difficult patch right now. I am not going to deceive you that you will not go through some challenges. But I already know the result is victory. And I know that God will not abandon you.

Prayer: Father, I thank You for the promise of Your Saving Presence. You, Jesus, are all that I  have ever needed, in Jesus Name.
