A farmer went out to plant some seed.  As he scattered it across his field, some seed fell on a footpath, where it was stepped on, and the birds came and ate it” Lu.8:5 [emphasis added]

Over the next few days, our focus is going to be on thinking clearly about spiritual growth. Our discuss will be centered on the parable of the soils in Luke 8:4-15 [please study]. Your life is not an accident. You are not here by chance. You were designed for a purpose. You need to understand that. But in other to become all that God has designed you to be, you must grow spiritually. Meaning, you cannot be all that God has called you to be if you do not grow spiritually. The life you and I are meant to live begins with salvation [spiritually birth]. But you cannot enter into the fullness until you grow spiritually.

Typically, your children are the heirs apparent of your property, right? So it means your cars, your houses inevitably will belong to them if they are still in good condition when you exit. But as long as your child remains a child, would you give him the key of your brand new car? I am not sure may of us would do that. The fact that you do not give him the keys does not mean you do not love him. And the boy says, father, you do not love me because you did not give me the keys of your car. I can drive; I have been having a lot of virtual practice. You probably will just laugh.

Sometimes, that is how we relate with God. God has shown you that He has a huge vision for you. He has a plan that He wants to take you into. But as long as you remain a child, you cannot access it. But you are going to make your relationship with Jesus a priority, you are going to grow, and you are going to access all that God has for you.

The farmer in the story Jesus told in Luke 8 is God. The seed is the Word of God. And the soil is my life and your life. Jesus is saying if you want to grow spiritually, three things from this scripture must happen. Firstly, I must be receptive to God. I must grow, I must be eager, willing, ready, and receptive to God. As a Pastor, I have discovered that one reason why some people do not grow is simply because they do not want to grow. They are not interested in growing. Some people think they are fine where they are. I implore you to search Scripture and discover God’s mind for you spiritually and take deliberate steps towards that goal. I pray that as you do, God will grow you Himself.

Prayer: Lord, open my eyes to what I must do to grow spiritually, in Jesus Name.
