Mis-Education

Above all else, watch over your heart; diligently guard it because from a sincere and pure heart come the good and noble things of life” Prov.4:23 [Voice]

You need to be aware that your resistance to sin can be lowered; so guard against it. When sin is glamorized, our resistance is lowered towards it. So watch the things that your heart desires so that they do not set you against God.

#2. By Implying Everyone Is Doing It: Another way the media breaks down our resistance to sin is by implying that everybody is doing it. And because a lot of people do not want to feel like fish out of water or like the “odd one out”, they to begin to do the things that God frowns at. Everyone is cutting corners but you will not go that way, in Jesus Name.

#3. By Failing To Show The Consequences: The media shows that you can shoot someone but it does not show you the consequences of that action. So you think holding a gun is cool and if you really get angry, you can shoot somebody. But what it does not say is that if you shoot someone, you are going to jail. Even when they show the jailhouse, you really do not get the true picture of what being in jail is. The media says you can sleep around, hop from one bed to the other because that is “the life”. Use what you have to get what you want; have you heard that statement before? It does not tell you all the curses, all the trouble, and the shame that follows sexual sin.

#4. By Getting One To Laugh At It: The fourth way our resistance to sin is lowered is by getting us to laugh at sin. The media portrays sin in an extremely comic way. You find yourself laughing even when you do not want to. The first time you laughed, you cautioned yourself. The second time you laughed, you kind of remembered that you should not be laughing but well… By the third time, the caution in your spirit was gone; you forgot that there is nothing funny about sin. And guess what? Typically, once you begin to laugh at something, you have embraced it. Remember the first time you saw any hint of homosexuality on television, how did you feel? I can assure you that you do not feel as disgusted as you used to feel and it is because of these four things.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, empower to raise my guard against sin and keep them up. Empower me to keep my delight in the Lord and His ways, in Jesus Name.
