Caution!!!
“Therefore let the one who thinks he stands firm [immune to temptation, being overconfident and self-righteous], take care that he does not fall [into sin and condemnation]” 1 Cor. 10:12 [AMP]
Establish protective boundaries. There are certain things that I just will not do, not because they are sin by themselves, but I have chosen not to do them. There are certain things you just should not do, certain things you should tag off limits. Why should you be asking your female colleague to pray for your sexual relationship with your wife? Then she will say, I will not only pray because faith without works is dead.
The ministers in God’s Favorite House, for example, have their ethics. Those ethics by themselves do not make you live above sin because you are only as accountable as you really want to be. People can break any law or find their way around anything but they will know that they are responsible for sidestepping. Those ethics are meant to guide you.
For example, occasionally my colleagues have to work in my living room. On one of such days, one of my colleagues came in really early. Even though I was upstairs, I knew she was around so I went downstairs to open the door. But she stayed in the car until someone else came. Why? It is because she knows that I am going to kick her out if she comes in alone. But she did not even attempt to come in and get embarrassed because we have ethics. There is no point trying to prove your strength to yourself. That is not where God has told you to manifest your strength. God says go and cast out demons, go and bring people to Jesus, go and heal the sick, go and raise the dead. “But among you there must not even be a hint of sexual immorality…” Eph.5:3 [NIV, emphasis added]. Not a hint, no flirting, no smacking, no touching in funny places, no hint! So, set some practical guidelines for yourself. You are only as accountable as you want to be because those are just guidelines.
#4. Magnify The Consequences Of Sin. The fourth way to stay pure in a sex-saturated world is to magnify the consequences of sin. It will save your life. When you are tempted to violate God’s standard, stop and remind yourself of the devastation and destruction that it will cause. That thing will lose its appeal, trust me.
Prayer: Father, please do a work in me, give me the desire and the power to do what is fully pleasing in Your eyes [Phil.2:14], in Jesus Name.
