Love’s Sake III

“…God will judge the sexually immoral”  Heb. 13:4 [NIV]

God has not changed His standards. Premarital sex is unacceptable to God. A live-in partner is unacceptable to God. Adultery is unacceptable to God. Homosexuality is unacceptable to God. It always has been and it always will be. The law can change but it really does not matter. The law of man does not change the righteousness of God. The Bible says, God will judge sexual immorality. This is why I have been so transparent and open over the past few days. So that you will see that you are not alone. God can help you. If you are trapped, you do not have to stay there; there is a way out. The path back to purity is:

#1. Repent [Ps. 51:1-10]. Repenting is simply changing your mind and agreeing with God. Stop rationalizing sin; call it what it is. Go to God and honestly admit that you have sinned or you have been disobedient. Do not say I have made a mistake, it is not just a mistake, it is a sin. Jesus came to die for your sins. You need a Savior to save you from your sins and not a “correctionist” to correct your mistakes.

#2. Receive Forgiveness [Ps. 32:1-5]. God has forgiven you but you have refused to forgive yourself. You have to receive forgiveness. If God has forgiven you, forgive yourself. Stop deliberating on how could you have been so foolish. It is a pointer to pride. Yes, you were foolish but God has forgiven you; now forgive yourself.

#3. Refocus and Replace [Rom. 13:13-14]. Refocus on the right priorities, the things that are worth living for, and not get carried away. Replace all that time spent on social media. Replace the wrong priorities with the right ones. For me on social media, I am mindful of who my friends are because their feeds get on your page. So if anyone is posting vile and vulgar content, I unfriend that person because I am protecting myself.

#4. Request Help Daily [1 Cor. 10:13]. If you find  that you are struggling, ask for help because help is available. With sin, the cut off has to be immediate. A slow cut off will not work. Let your pastors pray with you and help you through this phase because a lot of them have been through it themselves. You need to open your heart to God for healing.

Prayer: [song]: My body is Your Sanctuary (2x). Purify me as gold so I might be bold to say my body is Your sanctuary. Amen.
