Just Ask!

John 16:24 [NKJV] “…Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full”

You can provoke God’s favour and make heaven decide on your behalf by Petitioning. A Petition provokes and unlocks favour. ‘Let it please You to favour me, O God! Favour me and let’s see who will question You.”

James 4:2 says, “You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it” [emphasis added]. As simple as it is, sometimes, we just don’t ask. I have encountered so many people in counselling, crying and groaning. We find out the source of their pain and try to tackle it and guess what? Almost every time when I ask, “Have you talked to God about this and, have you asked Him for this?” Almost every time, the tears dry off and the response is usually “No!” How can you go to a man and cry to him, but you cannot talk to God? There is definitely something wrong with that. God says, “Ask…ask Me!”

If you have actually asked God, then the next step I would usually advise is this: take that same drama, the crying and groaning, to God and see if He will not answer you. Do not be jealous of what anybody has. Just ask God for your own. Nothing blocks the favour of God faster than jealousy and greed. You need to celebrate everyone that God has favoured because you attract what you celebrate. Celebrate the people God has favoured. Again I say, do not waste your time on jealousy; celebrate the people around you that are being favoured. If you do, you will attract what you celebrate.

James 4:3 says, “And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong…” If your reason for asking is so that you can show off or oppress people, then that needs to change today. God is clear in His Word; that is not the right motive for asking. Jesus is saying to us in John 16:24, “…Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full”. So check – is your joy full? If not, then God says all you need to do is ask!

Prayer [song]: Fill my cup Lord, I lift it up Lord. Come and quench this thirsting of my soul. Breath of heaven, fill me till I want no more. Fill my cup, I lift it up and make me whole. Amen!
