Cooperate With God
Luke 8:15 [LB] “…They listen to God’s words and cling to them and steadily spread them to others who also soon believe.” [with emphasis]
Have you made up your mind to consistently hear His voice? If your answer is yes, then you must also settle in your heart that you will obey what He tells you to do. The reason a lot of people do not hear God, is because God knows they will do what they want to do regardless of what He says. Sometimes, folks come to me asking for direction or advice. Looking at them in the physical, they appear totally genuine. But the Holy Spirit says to me, do not say anything because, it is what they want to do that they will do. Earlier on in my pastoral journey, I would argue with God claiming the person looks very serious. But I have discovered that people will do what they want to do. The only reason they have come to you, is just to hear what you have to say. They are not interested in listening.
So taking the position of a servant is so powerful because what you are saying to God is, I will obey. What is God saying? You feel like it is time to relocate and you are making plans to move your family. I am not saying you should relocate or you should not relocate. The question is, what is God saying? You want to start a business, great! Again, I am not saying start or do not start. My question is, what is God saying?
If you take that position of obedience before asking, God will always speak to you, that is of course, if you have made room for God – Cultivate an open mind, create time to listen, and eliminate distraction, remember?. Then you can take this position and God will always speak to you. Luke 18:15 says the seeds that fell on good soil represents people that hear the message and retain it in a good and obedient heart. And they persist until they bear fruits. The good soil is a willing mind, “…They listen to God’s words and cling to them and steadily spread them to others who also soon believe.” They are so willing they propagate.
So if we were to run a spiritual scan on your spirit man, what would we see? Would we see a closed mind, or a superficial shallow mind, or a preoccupied mind, or would we see a willing and open mind? Which soil [mind] is most productive?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I ask for the grace to cultivate an open mind, create time to listen to You, eliminate distractions and decide to obey in advance, in Jesus Name.
