Shape Up!

Lu.15:21His son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son”

The prodigal son came to his senses and his father responded in a way that was totally amazing, and it depicts how God responds to us. Lu.15:22-23But his father said to the servants, ‘Quick! Bring the finest robe in the house and put it on him. Get a ring for his finger and sandals for his feed. Kill the calf we have been fattening. We must celebrate with a feast” What the father was saying in essence is, ‘What makes you my son is not what you do; what makes you my son is who you are; you have my blood in you.’

Like that boy, a lot of us have dirt on our white robes but God is saying, ‘the dirt on your robe does not contaminate the blood in your veins’. For some, it is a bad odor they are carrying around. Know this; the odor on your body does not contaminate the blood in your system. If you are thinking you are not worthy, I am saying to you by God, the Blood of Jesus cleanses you from all sins. But you have to accept His worthiness.

It is one thing to be a lion and it is another thing to live worthy of being called a lion. Imagine a lion cub grows up with puppies; for a season it will hunt for bones like the dogs. But as the cub grows, something inside will keep speaking to the lion and one day, that lion will hunger for a fresh kill instead of bones. That lion would probably eat one of the dogs from the pack. Guess what? When it does, that lion is behaving worthy of being called a lion.

The second way to becoming worthy and to strengthen worthiness is be faithful. Lu.9:62 But Jesus told him, “Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for [worthy of] the Kingdom of God” [emphasis added]. And the keys to faithfulness are loyalty and obedience. If a wife refuses to be loyal and obedient to her husband, she cannot be faithful. The same applies to every facet of life. Even Jesus had to learn obedience through the things He suffered. Jesus had to learn obedience. Jesus had a choice. We also have a choice. But take note of this truth, you are as worthy as you are obedient. You are not worthy beyond your level of obedience. And it is because God does not separate the way we live our lives from what He can achieve through us.

Prayer: Father, I pray that when You test me, I will come out as pure as pure gold, in Jesus Name. Amen!
