Encounter

Gen.32:5 and now I own cattle, donkeys, flocks of sheep and goats, and many servants, both men and women…10…When I left home and crossed the Jordan River, I owned nothing except a walking stick. Now my household fills two large camps!

Be alert and expectant because God is changing destinies from Jacob to Israel in this season. Jacob and Esau were twin sons of Isaac and Rebecca. Isaac tilted towards Esau, while Rebecca tilted towards Jacob. From birth both sons struggled, even though Esau came out first; Jacob held on to his heel. Esau felt that he had won but Jacob had the birthright in view. He waited for the opportuned time and took it. Note: Jacob took the birthright; he did not steal it – two different things. Esau got really angry and was going to kill Jacob.

Isaac was too old to protect Jacob so he told him to run to uncle Laban’s house. Jacob went  and stayed there for twenty years. At the end of twenty years, God led Jacob to go back home. Please read Genesis 33:1-32. God shows us that He can take a man from nothing to a whole nation. So do not belittle your days of humble beginnings. It may seem like all you have now is a walking stick but you are not going to end with a walking stick.

Gen.32:1 As Jacob started on his way again, angels of God came to meet him. 2 When Jacob saw them, he exclaimed, “This is God’s camp!” So he named the place Mahanaim”. Even though Jacob’s encounter with angels was narrated like an everyday occurrence, the supernatural is real. There is more to life than meets the eye. So to live your life based on the natural alone is to short change yourself. You need to learn how to engage the supernatural so that you can have the fullness of your destiny delivered to you. Jacob understood clearly that the spiritual controls the physical. Everything you see in the physical was first established in the spiritual. To prevail in life you need to have power in God. God is going to change your destiny for good.

Jacob was a blessed man by all standards but He still needed a supernatural encounter for his destiny to be changed for good. Jacob still needed a destiny-changing encounter. You need a destiny-changing encounter because it is one thing to be blessed; it is another thing to fulfill your destiny.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I want to encounter You and enter into the fullness of Your plan for me, in Jesus Name. Amen!
