Step Back

Josh.9:¹⁴ “So the Israelites examined their food, but they did not consult the Lord. ¹⁵ Then Joshua made a peace treaty with them and guaranteed their safety, and the leaders of the community ratified their agreement with a binding oath”

When Joshua realized that they had been tricked by the Gibeonites, he forced them to become slaves but they did not put up any fight because it was better than death. But years later, Saul decided to get rid of the Gibeonites, then 2 Sam.21:¹  says: There was a famine during David’s reign that lasted for three years, so David asked the Lord about it. And the Lord said, “The famine has come because Saul and his family are guilty of murdering the Gibeonites.” [emphasis added]. Every time you are experiencing a famine, always step back and check with God because it is not a part of the covenant.

Saul, the king before David, killed the Gibeonites, but David, the man after God’s own heart, suffered the consequences (a famine) for three years. Check the alliances your predecessors have made – check! This was an agreement between men and not between man and God. But God honors agreements between men, heaven honors agreements between men and you need to get that. When a man makes a promise to marry a lady but then changes his mind because of another, he disappoints and breaks the first lady’s heart. The reason for some people’s toiling today is because they are covenant breakers and they think the promise of marriage does not matter, whereas spiritually it is working against them. They need to fix that faulty foundation.

Heaven recognizes covenants between men. There are women that are claiming to have children for their husband; meanwhile, they know that the man did not father those children. The children are from another man. This is a very delicate issue but there is a way out. But if you keep quiet, it can destroy you because the man’s God will fight for him. You made a covenant before God and man to honor, cherish, nourish your spouse all the days of your life yet you are maltreating your spouse. You have toyed with the foundation. You covenanted to forsake all other men but you are having a sex chat with another man. You are toying and cracking the foundation. I pray that God will give you a way out, in Jesus Name.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I have sinned against You, but according to the measure of Your loving kindness and mercy, forgive me and show me a way out, in Jesus Name. Amen!
