Go Forward!

Haggai 2: 9 The future glory of this Temple will be greater than its past glory, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. And in this place I will bring peace. I, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, have spoken!” [emphasis added]

One of the toughest pasts to let go of is past glory. That was why the elders in Ezra 3 [please read] were weeping. Yes, it was great but it is over and you are still holding on? God says let it go. God is not saying let it go and be hopeless. Let it go and take hold of greater things.

God saw the elders weeping over the foundation and the glory of the former house. And God said, Haggai 2: 6 “For this is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: In just a little while I will again shake the heavens and the earth, the oceans and the dry land. 7 I will shake all the nations, and the treasures of all the nations will be brought to this Temple. I will fill this place with glory, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. 8 The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. 9 The future glory of this Temple will be greater than its past glory, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. And in this place I will bring peace. I, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, have spoken!”

God is saying the glory of this same temple that you are looking at its ruins, will be restored in just a little while. And just in case you are in doubt as to how, God is saying remember the silver and gold belong to Him. I know you are worrying about how well Solomon built the former temple and all the resources that went into it. God says, I own the silver and gold and I am telling you that the future glory of this temple will be greater than its past glory.

When God speaks and He says, “I, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, have spoken!” you need to appreciate the weight of that guarantee. It means you can take it to the bank and show them His signature. I do not know what you have lost, I do not know what you are looking back at and wondering if it will ever be. This is what the Sovereign Lord says, “the glory of the latter house shall surpass the former”. The greatness ahead of you is beyond what you have seen. I know you have seen great things. God is saying, if you stick around long enough, if you stay with Him, the glory of this house [this your life, this your temple, this your marriage], this very one not another, will surpass the former glory. Amazing!

Prayer [song]: Who is like unto Thee, O Lord! (2x) Amongst the gods, who is like Thee? Glorious in holiness, fearful in praise, always doing wonders. Hallelujah! Amen!
