Wrestle This!
Gen.5:23 “Enoch lived 365 years, 24 walking in close fellowship with God. Then one day he disappeared, because God took him.”
Every time you allow the world to contaminate your consecration to God, you are asking for trouble. One major hazard to God’s people has always been the influence of the people around them. The examples in Scripture are for you and I, so that we do not make the same mistakes they made. Do not gloss over it! Learn from it. A ship can go from one continent to another without sinking as long as the ocean stays outside of the ship. The moment the water begins to enter the ship, it will sink. You are in the world but you are not of the world. The reason a lot of people are struggling in their walk with God is simple; you cannot be swallowing the salty water and still expect to stay afloat. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you discern appropriately the people you need to love from a distance.
Question 3: What story am I telling with my life? Whether you like it or not your life is telling a story. In moving forward ask yourself, how will the story of my life be told? That step I want to take, how will it impact the story of my life? Start with the end in mind – always start with the end in mind. What story do you want told of your life? I typically challenge people that I mentor to write their own epitaph ahead. I have written mine and that is what will be written if Jesus tarries. What will your epitaph read?
As you move forward, you need to decide before hand to leave a story worth telling. Make up your mind to leave a story that will instruct generations unborn on walking with God. One of the things I love about the Bible is that it is brutally truthful about the stories of peoples’ lives. No matter how much God loved those people, He still told the story of their lives as it was. Abraham [God’s friend], slept with his house girl. I said to God, but this man is your friend, couldn’t you have just removed these colorful details from his story? It is there for all to see. The steps you are taking are determining the story of your life and Heaven is inking it down. You cannot erase it so you need to be alert and prayerful.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, order my steps in Your Word so that I will not be overcome by evil and so that the story of my life will draw multitudes to You, in Jesus Name. Amen!
