Permanent Part
Heb.12:16 “Make sure that no one is immoral or godless like Esau, who traded his birthright as the first born son for a single meal”
No matter how much God loves people, He tells the story of their lives as it is. This thread runs through the entire Bible – Isaac, Israel, Paul, Peter, Matthew, Rahab. Concerning Rahab, I would say to God, “How about removing the part that she was a prostitute? So that Jesus can have a clean linage”. Even with David, the man after God’s heart, God was brutally truthful in telling his story including the episode with Bathsheba. Jesus obviously loved the rich young man, but Jesus still said the man chose money rather than eternity. I mean, no matter how much God loved them, God told their story as it was.
Every step you take becomes a permanent part of the story of your life as you move forward. So be mindful of the steps you are taking. People take steps because they want to get at their parents. Such people know that the steps they have decided to take are foolish but they take it anyway. Some wives have taken steps just so that they can get back at their husbands. And some husbands have taken foolish positions, because they want to teach their spouse a lesson. The only word for that is foolishness because every step you take becomes a permanent part of the story of your life. You are writing a story step by step.
The question you need to wrestle with is “What story am I telling with my life?” Is there a step you are about to take that will ruin the story of your life? Is there a habit that God wants you to stop because it does not align with the story of your life? Is there a habit that God wants you to stop? Is there something God wants you to start that will enhance the story of your life? Is there something you need to be consistent with that will solidify the story of your life? Is there a commitment God is nudging you to make?
Albert Einstein says, “It’s not that I’m so smart, but I stay with the questions much longer”. You and I need to stay with these questions and wrestle with them. As you wrestle with these questions, you will be shocked at how much progress you will make, because promotion does not come from the east or from the west, it comes from God.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, order my steps in Your Word so that I will not be overcome by evil and so that the story of my life will draw multitudes to You, in Jesus Name. Amen!
