Pr. 12:25 “Worry can rob you of happiness.” [GN]
Fear paralyses potential, fear ruins relationships, and #3: Fear Hinders Happiness. David says in Ps.55:2 “I am worn out by my worries.” More people today are tired from worrying than from work. The reason a lot of people are lethargic is because of worrying themselves out. Instead of working, you are worrying. People think you are working but you are actually worrying, worrying about the work.
Alfred Hitchcock is known as the master of suspense when it comes to the world of movies. Alfred Hitchcock says, “I turn my fears into movies”. At least Hitchcock is making money from his worries. Fear actually plays out like a movie. For someone reading this today, if you were to write about your fears, it would be an award-winning movie or television series. However, God wants you to rise above fear because it hinders happiness, paralyses potential, ruins relationships, and fear sabotages success.
The fourth damaging thing about fear is: Fear Sabotages Success. Job 3:25 “Everything I fear and dread comes true” [GN]. The truth is that fear can become a self-fulfilling prophecy if we are not careful to cast it out [deal with it]. Have you heard people say, “I was afraid this would happen.” Why do fears play out? It is because you become what you focus on. When you focus on your fears, they happen. As a man thinks in his heart so he is. Fear shifts your focus to the object of your fears and your creative power is released into it. It is your creative power that brings it to pass. Every human being has creative powers. We have the power to imagine something and bring it to life. When you are born again, your creative power is on steroids. When fear captures that creative power it becomes very dangerous.
A lot of the people that said they were afraid of turning out like their parents, turned out like their parents. It is because they were so focused on the parent and they actually became like that parent faster. So what do you do? Focus is still the key. Take your focus off the object of your fears and put your focus on Christ and you will become like Christ.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I will keep my eyes fixed on You alone. You alone will be my fear, You alone will be my dread, in Jesus Name. Amen!
