Isa.8:13 “Make the Lord of Heaven’s Armies holy in your life. He is the one you should fear. He is the one who should make you tremble”

When you preoccupy yourself with Jesus and you focus on the decisions that Christ would make, over time your life will be all that God planned it to be. And if your parents made mistakes you are afraid of repeating in your own life, move your focus to Jesus and away from them. It is as simple as that. Some people are afraid of commitments. What if they cannot keep to their own end of the commitment? Guess what? Such people end up being what they are most afraid of, Non-Committal.

Many people are afraid of illness. Such people are constantly checking their body for cancerous growths. And because people are afraid of illness, they actually become ill. Some people are afraid of poverty. They are so focused on poverty that they actually become poor. Some people are afraid of growing old. Guess what begins to happen? Such people age very quickly because you become what you behold. Some ladies are actually very afraid of being ugly, so they put on excessive make up. You can predict the out come of that. Relax! You are beautiful. You are God’s own masterpiece.

There are three spiritual antidotes to fear. The first one is Truth. John 8:32 “You will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” A newborn baby has only two innate fears; the fear of falling and the fear of loud noises. The baby is not afraid of anything else. Put a gun to a baby’s head and the baby will smile. Every other fear is learnt as people grow. And since fear can be learned, it means it can be unlearned.

A research shows that forty percent of fears are about future events that never happen. Thirty percent are about the past that cannot change. The past is past! Twelve percent are needless fears about health. Countless people have diagnosed themselves with diseases they do not have. Ten percent are petty fears not worth worrying about. Only eight are legitimate fears. And these legitimate fears can be dealt with by taking appropriate action. 2 Cor. 4:2 “In the full light of God’s truth we live…” [GN, with emphasis]. You deal with fears by living in the full light of God’s truth, and the truth will set you free.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I will keep my eyes fixed on You alone, in Jesus Name. Amen!
