Most Wanted

Matt.6:32 “The thing you should want most is God’s kingdom and doing what God wants. Then all these other things you need will be given to you” [ICB]

If God has promised to meet every need then why do we still have unmet legitimate needs? Before we answer this question, you need to realize that for every promise in the Bible there is a premise [a condition]. God’s love is unconditional but the promises of God are conditional. This is one of the truths that you and I need to know and it births actions that we need to take. These actions are the premises that need to be fulfilled. What conditions guarantee God will meet my needs? Jesus shows us five things we should do, five things that will guarantee that our needs are met. So instead of worrying, act on these five things and never have to worry again. If you meet the premise, you will land the promise.

God will meet all my needs if I put Christ first in my life. Matt. 6:32-33 “Your heavenly Father already knows perfectly well what you need, and He will give it to you if you give Him first place in your life and live as He wants you to [LB, with emphasis]. God will give you what you need; the premise is give Him first place in your life and live as He wants you to. The King James Version of the Bible says, “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness…” Did the Bible say seek only the Kingdom of God? The Bible says seek first. Make God’s Kingdom priority and make Christ priority.

Jesus says if we do not prefer Him above our parents, siblings, spouses and even our own lives, we cannot be His disciples. Anything you love more than God is going to become a source of anxiety in your life – anything! So stop living for possessions and start living for God. Does God want us to work hard? Definitely but God does not want your job to own you. God wants you to be wealthy but God does not want wealth to own you. God designed marriage and it is His plan for you. But God does not want marriage to become your all-consuming passion or for your spouse to own you. God wants you to have children but He does not want children to own you. God will meet all our needs if we put Christ first.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, empower me to give You first place in my life and live each day as God wants me to, in Jesus Name. Amen!
