Your Peace

Ps.91:1Whoever goes to the Lord for safety, whoever remains under the protection of the Almighty, 2 can say to him, “You are my defender and protector. You are my God; in you I trust.” [GNB, with emphasis].

In facing our fears there are some facts that you and I must know. The first fact is that fear occurs when we feel out of control. The second fact is that most of life’s issues are beyond our control. These two facts clearly show that life is filled with fear. The secret to overcoming all fears is not in a formula or in a ten steps list of to-dos.  The key to overcoming all fears is a person and that person is Jesus.

Ps.91:1Whoever goes to the Lord for safety, whoever remains under the protection of the Almighty, 2 can say to him, “You are my defender and protector. You are my God; in you I trust.” [GNB]. Therefore, you and I do not need to be afraid because God is near, God cares and God is in control of everything that concerns you. What else can a man ask for? Why should you lose sleep? You are His beloved and God gives sleep to His beloved. What can you change by losing sleep? Go and sleep, my friend!

We fear too much because we fear God too little. If you believe that all power belongs to God alone and He alone charts the course of all things, then what are you afraid of? If you will be truthful to yourself, you will admit that the only reason you are still afraid is because you fear God too little. Isa.8:13 “Sanctify the Lord of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread” [KJV]. Personalize this Scripture and add it to your prayer list every day. I will sanctify the Lord of Hosts Himself and the Lord alone will be my fear and dread.

Do you think Jesus did not know that the disciples would face a storm? So why did He allow them enter into the boat and why did He not just tell them to take another route? It was to teach them a lesson that we must all learn from experience. And the lesson is that Christ Jesus can be trusted in crisis. Deut.8:3 So he made you suffer… He did this to teach…” [GW]. You and I need to learn from experience that Jesus Christ can be trusted in crisis. When we realize this, the crisis [the storm] begins to calm.

Prayer: Father, I thank You because You are completely dependable. You are my defender and my protector and I hide in You, in Jesus Name. Amen!
