Precious Seed I

Gen.8:22 “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest …will never cease.”

God says, “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest …will never cease”. This is not a theory that will expire. This is the Old Testament versus New Testament. I know that sometimes it can be painful to sow because some seeds are precious seeds. God acknowledges that some seeds are precious but this is what He promises concerning such seeds; Ps.126:6 “He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him” [KJV, with emphasis].

I have heard some interesting teaching – they say that God loves a cheerful giver and this is true. They say the seed that is given sorrowfully should not be given. That is wrong because God says that there are some seeds that are precious seeds. So God acknowledges that you can give a precious seed that will make you cry. But ensure you give it because, doubtless you will come again rejoicing. This is how God is.

The truth is that when God tells you to do something, it does not have to make sense. God laid it in our hearts to give some lady money. This lady is an executive and if we are assessing things in the natural, we really should not be the ones giving her money. But looking at life like that has kept a lot of people in poverty. So we asked for her account number; it was not even a lot of money but we sent it. She called us almost in tears saying, so this is how God is. For us the money was a lot but for someone like that it should not be. The point is that for us it was a seed but for her it was a huge harvest. If you look at it on the natural we should not be giving her money. But I will tell you a secret – you give up for wealth and you give down for health.

The more precious the seed is, the more resounding the harvest will be. 2 Sam.24:24 “No, I insist on buying it, for I will not present burnt offerings to the Lord my God that have cost me nothing.” So David paid him fifty pieces of silver for the threshing floor and the oxen.” At offering time in God’s Favourite House, you will never hear us say if your neighbor does not have an offering put an offering in his or her hand, because it means nothing to them.

Prayer: Lord, may I never give God that which costs me nothing, in Jesus Name. Amen!
