Special Ability VI

Acts 2:42 “… They took part in the fellowship, and sharing in fellowship meals and in praying together” [TEV, with emphasis]

If you want God’s blessings in your life, you must be committed to loving other Christians deeply. Acts 2:42they were like family to each other” [CEV, with emphasis]. We have to be like family to each other. It should be known what we are for [for our love] much more than to be known for what we are against. The church is mostly known for what it is against. Truth be told, I think we should be focusing more on what we are for. It is because when you really stand for something, inadvertently you are standing against something else. But you are not consumed with what you are for and that is love.

Back in the day, even Paul’s letters reflected this. Christians used to greet each other with holy kisses not lustful kisses [cf. Rom.16:16, 1 Cor.16:20, 2 Cor.13:12, 1 Thes.5:26]. These Christians did it innocently and that was their culture. Even Paul encourages it because people need physical contact. But some bishops got together about a hundred years ago and banned it because they said people might begin to be lustful. So which one should we do? Do what is in the Bible or what the bishops say? How will we judge if it is holy or not? You should know if it is holy because unto the pure all things are pure and unto the defiled all things are defiled, even the things that are pure are defiled that is what the Bible says.

Acts 2:46 They worshiped together regularly at the Temple each day, met in small groups in homes for Communion, and shared their meals with great joy and thankfulness” [LB, with emphasis]. For us to remain a church that God will bless, we have to meet together and meet in small groups. Churches that have congregations numbering over one thousand, are considered mega churches. And some people are of the opinion that Jesus will not have anything to do with all those mega churches. I laugh because you know they do not know the Bible. Peter preached one sermon and three thousand people gave their lives to Jesus. So their church grew from one hundred and twenty people to three thousand in one day. Jesus must have run away from the church.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, help me to consistently build my life on God’s Word and help me love people deeply, in Jesus Name. Amen!
