Him Not I

James 4:10 (Voice) “Lay yourself bare, facedown to the ground, in humility before the Lord; and He will lift your head so you can stand tall.”

God skipped all the likely candidates and picked Joshua as the one to lead God’s people into His promise. This is not the first time we see this play out in Scripture and it was not the last time either. We must always remember that God does not see as man sees. God qualifies the leaders He calls. How? His Presence! God said to Joshua, “I will not fail you, I will be with you. I know you think you do not have the capacity to do it. I know you think you do not have the leadership quotient for the job. I know you do not have the emotional capacity to carry these stiff-necked people. I know and I will be with you” [paraphrased].

God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel will be with you. That is so comforting. The same God that did not fail Joshua will not fail you. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. We are going to take all the territories that God has for us because God will be with us. I see you taking territories for Jesus. I see you taking industries for Jesus and God will be with you wherever you go, in Jesus Name.

Why are we so confident? Why are we able to do seemingly crazy things for God? It is simply because God has said and we believe that He is with us and He is not going to fail us. God’s Presence is the key really. Ex.33: 15 “Then Moses said, “If you don’t personally go with us, don’t make us leave this place. 16 How will anyone know that you look favorably on me—on me and on your people—if you don’t go with us? For your presence among us sets your people and me apart from all other people on the earth” [with emphasis].

The first thing you need to have in place to Step up in your sphere of influence is to admit total dependence on God. You cannot be making plans without God. Yes, God wants you to Step up but some people are so “driven” that they would have driven fifty kilometers before remembering to check if God is in the car. You do not craft a plan and then check if God is on board.  No! You go to God and trust that God will lead you into a plan. You have to admit your dependence on God.

Prayer [song]: I have no power of my own (2x). Holy Spirit, I look up to You help me! I have no power of my own. Amen!
