Advantage?

Isaiah 30:21 “Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left.”

Stepping up starts with admitting your dependence on God. For you to step up, you need to see that without God, you really cannot be all that God has called you to be. Sadly, a lot of people are embracing the idea that they can do what they want with their lives. News flash: it is not your call and it is clearly stated in God’s Word. Prov.3:5Trust in the Lord with all your heart and DO NOT lean on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path” [with emphasis]. You are not the boss of you – God is!

You cannot step up while looking around. This is the second thing that you and I must tackle in order to step up. You cannot be measuring your own success against another person’s. Your race is unique, so focus and run it! Daniel and Paul were in a heated conversation. Daniel needed Paul to see how wasteful his alcohol drinking habit was and what it had cost him over the days, months and years. But Paul turned to Daniel almost immediately demanding to know how he had invested the money he must have saved over the days, months and years especially since he was not given to drinking alcohol.

You do not have an advantage if you do not use your advantage. This truth can be applied to every area of our lives. You are in church but you have refused to participate in the ongoing worship. Your constant criticism of the preacher and his accent has kept you from hearing the Word. Your friends may not be physically present in church but guess what? Neither are you. You do not have an advantage unless you take your advantage and use it.

As a child of God, you have access to God’s Presence and access to His voice. The people outside the faith do not know God or live for Him. They are accustomed to doing things as they feel. But you, even with the level of access you have, do not take the time to step back and seek God’s face. You take decisions like everyone else. What is the difference? Where is the advantage? You have an advantage but your advantage cannot be an advantage if you do not use your advantage.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, please guide me along the best pathway for my life, advise me and watch over me, in Jesus Name. Amen! [Ps.32:8]
