Jer.17:5 The Lord says, “Cursed is the man who trusts in man, who trusts in the flesh for his strength, and whose heart turns away from the Lord. 6 For he will be like a bush in the desert and will not see when good comes. He will live in dry wastes in the desert….”

Yesterday, we pointed out that at first read, it is easy to think that God is harsh for cursing those people who are already experiencing a tough time. But it is important to know that God is not cursing them. God is saying they are cursed. So why are they cursed? They are cursed because they are not looking in the right direction. They are cursed because they will not see God’s goodness when it comes.

However, you and I must see the goodness of God in these scriptures. Where? I will show you. God is in direction A but the people are looking in direction B. Even though these people are looking in direction B, God is there and He is still sending goodness their way. But they do not see the goodness God is sending their way because they are looking in another direction hence the curse. They will not see the goodness God is sending to them because they have made man their trust. This shows us that God is still good and God still sends things our way even when we do not trust Him. It is now our responsibility to refocus and put our trust in God alone. God is your source, not man!

The third thing you need to pay attention to is, Do not be passive. Over and over again, I see people waiting for the “big deal”, waiting for the “big break” to happen. Meanwhile his wife has not eaten, the rent is due and his children’s school fees have not been paid. But he is folding his hands and supposedly waiting on God for the breakthrough so that he can settle everything. Some claim to have a container in the high sea and as soon as they clear it then everything will be sorted out. My advice to such people is swim, go and meet the container, take action! God gave you a brain; He gave you hands; work!

In your current place of employment, you cannot afford to be passive. Earn your pay cheque! It is wrong to say whether your company sells or not, you will get your pay by the end of the month. One day, your boss will see that heart and the effect is never positive. Do not be passive.

Prayer: Father, You alone are my Source and I will honour You and bring glory to You by being diligent in everything that I do, in Jesus Name. Amen
