Gaining & Sustaining Victory

Jude 1:24 [KJV] Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy.”

We gain lasting victory by turning to Jesus. When you are consumed by the love of Jesus, believe me, everything else fades away. The things that used to control you in the past, lose their hold on you because you have turned to a new love from the old love. But a lot of people are in what seems to be an endless struggle with condemnation, deception, accusation and habits that are attempting to keep them down. I know it sounds simplistic but that is God for you. Most times, we miss God because we are looking for the dramatic but God is in the simple things. You will struggle if you are trying to turn from those habits to God. It is a lost battle. You will not gain victory by fighting those things that are wrong.

When I gave my life to Jesus, I did not know how I was going to live for God. I said to God, “Is it even possible to live a life that pleases You? Is it possible to do without sex? Lord, I am not sure this thing would work.” God said to me, “I am able to keep you from falling!” And I said, “If You are able to keep me from falling, then I will follow You.” I have been following Jesus for over twenty years. There are times that I came very close to falling but I did not fall. And the reason why I did not fall, is because I set Jesus [the love of my life] before me at all times.

Setting Jesus before you at all times is the key. 1Thess.1:9 [Voice] “…how you turned toward God and realigned your life to serve the one true living Godleaving your idols to crumble in the dust” [with emphasis]. Many of us need to realign our lives “…to serve the One True Living God…” and when you do that, every idol in your life will crumble in the dust, in Jesus Mighty Name. It is one thing to have a doctrinal position – holding unto the “do’s” and “don’ts” of religion. However, it is a totally different thing altogether to have a relationship with the Living God. It is one thing to have doctrinal beliefs and doctrinal positions are strong. The truth is that anybody can have a doctrinal position but God is inviting you to come to the Living God, talk to Him and love Him. He wants to love you back and His name is Jesus!

Prayer [hymn]: Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace.
