Sweet Spot II

Ps.138:8 “The Lord will work out his plans for my life—for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever. Don’t abandon me, for you made me.”

Work is God’s idea.  It is not a curse and He wants you and I to work. Work is a tool that God uses to supply our needs, develop character in us, empower us to be generous and be examples to others, and work affords us respect. It is however made up of two components – the job and the call.

When your call swallows up your job, you have a sweet spot. In the sweet spot, you will be paid to do what you were made to do. In the sweet spot, your brain syncs with your heart, the task will be about the mission and your money will have meaning.

Sometimes, people discover their call on the job. This story of a policeman made headlines years back – A man discovered that his calling was to ensure people were safe, so he joined the intercessors in his church. As an intercessor, he prayed for the protection of the city and its people, that was his call but, he felt he needed to do more and so he got a job in the police force.

While making his rounds one day, he caught a woman driving around with her baby in the car but without a car seat. She could not afford a car seat but this was a punishable offence. The natural thing to do would be to give her a ticket and she would have to pay whatever penalty the law of the land demands. Instead, he took her to a Wal-Mart and bought her a car seat for the child – that for him was doing his job; he solved the problem rather than just giving her a ticket.

The news of his heroic act got out somehow and of course the press was all over him. This is what being a policeman ought to be – actually ensuring people’s safety.  Guess what? God is just amazing! He had a thirty-year mortgage on his house and because of what he did for the woman, someone offered to pay off his entire mortgage. He was just doing his job and fulfilling his call and God took care of his accommodation. Some other people will do all sorts of crazy things to pay their bills off, but this man got into the sweet spot and God sorted it all out!

Prayer: Father, I ask that You will personally work out Your plans for my life, in Jesus Name. Amen!
