Matt. 5:16“Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”

Beginning from today, we will examine what people that excel have in common and what they do. We will learn from the Bible what God says about how to excel at work.

The first thing you and I need to know is that the people that excel, Work With Enthusiasm. Enthusiasm means they are passionate about their work and give their all to it. When you see them working, you are not confused about whether they love what they do or not. It is glaring that they are into what they do and give their lives to it.

Col. 3:23(Philips) “Whatever your task is, put your whole heart and soul into it, as work done for the Lord, and not merely for men…”[with emphasis]. God is saying whatever your task, work, or assignment is, put your whole heart and soul into it. God does not want you to work half-heartedly regardless of what you do. In spite of what you do, teacher, engineer, medical doctor, it is an assignment of God. You do not have to be in the ministry to serve God. Whatever your work is, God’s Word says do it with all your heart and soul.

In the entertainment industry for instance, they say there are no small roles; there are only small actors. Great performers they say, give their best efforts regardless of the role and the size of the audience. The mark of a great actor is his performance regardless of the role he is given. God expects you to put your heart and your soul into your work. I am saying this repeatedly because of its weight with God.

Pr.10:26(LB) “A lazy fellow is a pain to his employers – like smoke in their eyes or vinegar that sets teeth on edge.”I pray that you will not be a pain to your employers in Jesus Name [say Amen]. Unfortunately, a lot of people are ignorant about what they do and they cannot be bothered about it. God wants you to be excellent. To be excellent, you cannot afford ignorance or apathy, people that are excellent work with enthusiasm. You need to bring your passion on board, so the question we need to wrestle with today is this – Is your lack of passion or lack of effort frustrating your employer or your customers?

Prayer: Holy Spirit, show me practical ways to let my light shine in everything that I do so that men will see excellence in me and glorify God Almighty, in Jesus Name. Amen!
