Upgrade Yourself

Pr. 18:9 “One who is slack in his work is a brother to the one who destroys.”

 

The Bible describes the person that is a slacker as a brother to the one that destroys. In other words, they are one and the same. If you have a slacker working for you, heaven sees the person as a destroyer of your resources, your time and of your business – fire him or her. As the boss, you also have to ensure that you are not the slacker. I want you to rate yourself on your enthusiasm. Your enthusiasm is your creative energy, the energy you bring to work. On a scale of one to ten what is your attitude to work? If you resent work, you are a one. If your attitude is best described as tolerating work, then you are a four.  If you actually look forward to work when you wake up, then you are a ten. I want you to remember that the people who excel, work with enthusiasm.

The second thing you and I need to know is that people that excel at work Sharpen Their Skills. They are always growing, always developing, always improving, always thinking and always adding to themselves. Pr.22:29 “Do you see a man who is skilled in his work?  He will serve before kings…” [with emphasis]. Regardless of the sector in which you work, you have to sharpen your skills. Take a course related to your skill set and sharpen your skill. In God’s Favourite House, we value continuous learning. Read a book, listen to a podcast, or watch a webinar and open your mind.

Do not waste your time doing things that are not going to help you. Pr.12:11 (GN) “…It is stupid to waste time on useless projects” [with emphasis]. One of the most important skills is how to make the best use of time. Everybody has the same amount of time regardless of his or her status. Killing time is equivalent to committing suicide. You can never catch me just passing time. There should always be something you are doing to improve yourself.

 

Prayer: Father, please help me to be more deliberate about sharpening my skills for work. Help me not to waste the resources You have entrusted me with, in Jesus Name. Amen!
