Truth vs. Error

Lu.10:26 Jesus replied, “What does the law of Moses say? How do you read it?27 The man answered, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’” [with emphasis]

God laid the foundations of the heavens. He established earth and spread the heavens like a curtain. God alone knows the number of the stars and He calls them by their names. Yet this same God is mindful of us. That is why we must consistently thank God for His Presence with us and give Him praise and glory. I pray that in this season God will do in our lives, that which eyes have not seen, that which ears have not heard and that which has not even begun to enter into the hearts of men and Jesus will be glorified, in Jesus Name. Amen!

The summary of the Ten Commandments is love God and love people. It is not true that the Ten Commandments is irrelevant. A lot of people say we do not have to obey The Law because we are under grace. The truth is they just need a license to commit fornication and adultery –check their personal lives. How come these same people do not commit murder and claim to be under grace and not The Law? Most of the people that claim to be under grace do all sorts of strange things but they will not kill. They just need a license for sin and so they banter grace. That is not what Jesus came to die for.

Jesus pointed us back to The Law of Moses when asked about eternal life. If the law were irrelevant, it cannot deliver eternal life. Jesus said in Lu.10:28 …Jesus told him. “Do this and you will live!” [with emphasis]. The challenge of the early church was legalism because they were coming from a Judaic culture so they were highly legalistic. Circumcision was a big issue; they wanted to circumcise every Christian –that is one extreme. I know there are still some traces of legalism in the Church; they say that red is the colour of the devil, do not wear lipstick, if a woman gets up from a seat, a man cannot sit on it for at least forty-five minutes or he will get defiled. Some churches today will still fight women wearing trousers or not.

However, the biggest challenge to the current day church and the future church will not be legalism. The biggest challenge for the church would be “antinomianism” –the second extreme. Nomian is the Greek word for The Law. An antinomian is a lawless person.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, because it pleases You and leads to eternity with You, I will Love God and I will love people, in Jesus Name. Amen!
