Grace & Truth!

Jn.1:17 “For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.”

Antinomianism is the concept of grace that says you can sin all you like. In fact, it suggests that the more you sin, the more the grace. Are you familiar with this theory? It is called the “Eternal Salvation [E.S.]” movement –once saved, forever saved. But these same people will not commit murder because they do not want to go to jail. It is just a license to sin. Love God, love people therein lies the struggle of every race, the struggle of every human being. However, therein also lies the fulfilment, quest and eternal life of every human being.

Deut.10:4 Once again the Lord wrote the Ten Commandments on the tablets and gave them to me. They were the same words the Lord had spoken to you from the heart of the fire on the day you were assembled at the foot of the mountain” [with emphasis]. God actually carved the stones Himself. He wrote The Ten Commandments with His own hand. A lot of the time when God is giving people, even the prophets, instructions, He would tell them to get a pen and write it down. Examples are “Habakkuk, write..”, “Isaiah, write..”, “Jeremiah, write..” but when it came to the Ten Commandments, God wrote it Himself with His hand.

But then Moses coming down from the mountain, saw the people committing adultery and worshipping the golden calf. He smashed the Ten commandments – hand written by God. So, God told Moses to carve the stones by himself, put them in an ark and carry them up the mountain himself. Joshua his assistant was not to help him carry the stones. Initially, when God gave Moses the stone tablets, Joshua was with him and so Joshua carried the stone tablets down. Imagine Joshua’s horror when Moses smashed the tablets.

What do you think would have happened to Joshua if in anger he said, “Moses, do not tell me to carry anything for you next time!”?  Which would be easier, carrying the stones up the mountain or down the mountain? God told Moses, “Come up alone, do not bring Joshua.” What does that mean? Imagine all the work Moses had to do. Be mindful of the things God puts in your hands. Getting them on your own may not be so easy.

Prayer: Father, let there be no lawlessness found in me. Teach me to handle with care all that You put in my hands, in Jesus Name. Amen!
