Are you killing yourself slowly? Sadly, a lot of people trivialize things that determine their destiny. Exercise for instance; some people just refuse to exercise. I had a friend while I was in university that led me to smoke. So, when I got saved, the first thing I did was I went straight to my friends to tell them about my experience with Jesus. That is why I really do not understand why saved people cannot talk to their friends about Jesus.
I told my friend he needed to be born again but all the while I was speaking, he just shook his head and kept on smoking. I told him the cigarettes were killing him slowly and his defence was that he did not want to die suddenly. So, I left him and sadly one day he slumped and died. Do not trivialize the things that determine your destiny.
The spectrum of death runs all the way from anger, to abusive speech, to hatred, and to murder. And it destroys our peace. Abusive speech is demeaning to the image of God. Rom.12:18 “Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.” A lot of husbands are guilty of using demeaning words on their wives. Sometimes, it is as a result of external pressure, or sometimes pressures from within the home, and in some cases, a combination of both. So, the man lashes out at his wife and verbally abuses her. So, I want to challenge you today to go on your knees when you get home and ask her for forgiveness.
I know a lot of men will struggle with this challenge. So, I urge you to keep your focus on the fact that your wife is made in God’s image, verbal abuse is the second step on the death spectrum and God says, “If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days… 11…Search for peace, and work to maintain it.”
Prayer: Father, I ask for the wisdom not to trivialize things that pertain to my destiny, in Jesus Name. Amen!
