Destiny Matters I

Ps Ps.139:16 “You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. 17 How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered!”

Every destiny in God only gets delivered with a fight because the enemy will not go down without a fight. However, the beauty of combat for us is that we are fighting from a position of victory. We are not fighting for victory so fight we must. We need courage to fight. Every boxer will tell you that it takes courage to get into the boxing ring every single time. I pray that God will give you the courage to knock down every force that is against your destiny in Jesus Name.

If at the point of departure from heaven, we were given the power to choose our parents, choose our siblings and choose the location where we were to be born, many of us would have changed at least one of these variables in our lives. However, things like this and many other things are outside our control. But God has not left us without a choice because while some things are outside of our control, there are so many things that are within our control. There are things, decisions that we actually get to determine the direction or outcome. Unfortunately, we usually underestimate the impact our decisions have on both our destinies and the destinies of others.

The issue of destiny is something a lot of people struggle with. Today, we consider a few pointers to help us understand this concept of destiny better.

  1. God sets your destiny by deciding WHEN and WHERE you are born. God sets somethings in motion by determining who your parents are, who your siblings are, and your village or your clan. In Acts 17:26 “From one man he created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided beforehand when they should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries.” [with emphasis].
  2. Our destinies are INTERTWINED with each other. Everyone has people whose lives would be significantly impacted by their decisions and vice versa. Rom.14: For we don’t live for ourselves or die for ourselves.” In other words, God did not create you just to live for yourself. You are not an island. There are people whose destinies are connected to yours, that is how God has chosen to set it up.
  3. We will MISS our destiny if we choose to follow our own plan instead of God’s plan. Hebrews 12:15 Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God.”

Prayer: Father, I pray that my life will go according to Your plans so that You can change generations through Your work in me, in Jesus Name. Amen!
