Essentials IV

Gen.26:1And there was a famine in the land… 12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the Lord blessed him. 13 And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great” (KJV)

In those days, when there is famine in the land, there is no water and no irrigation system. They depend solely on rain. To plant anything during famine is to waste your time. But following God’s instruction, Isaac sowed in that land. Even though there was a famine in the land, he did not hold back. And the Bible records that he received in the same year a hundred-fold. The Lord blessed him and he grew until he became very great. You are going to wax great. You are going to move forward and grow until you become very great. The key is this, give your best and we know that it takes courage to give your best.

The third way to show courage in fighting for your destiny is, YOU MUST HAVE THE COURAGE TO REJECT NEGATIVE ADVICE. If I am going to fight and possess my destiny in God, fight for my home, for my children, for my siblings; I must have the courage to reject negative advice. Years ago, I was supposed to take a professional exam. The exam consists of six papers. Before I sat for the exams, I went to someone I considered a mentor; I always like to have mentors. What they say means a lot to me. When I told him about my plan to do the exams, he told me that if I did the exams at that time I would fail.

He said I need to have another five years’ work experience and do some other things before I could attempt the exams. He even gave me a list of people that had tried and failed. In his opinion I should not waste my time because those exams were really expensive. I left talking to him deflated. But something in me said fight, go and do it. So, against professional advice, I went to do the exams and behold, I failed the exams. I went through the whole process of beating myself up.

But it must have been the Holy Spirit that filled me up with courage to pull myself up and start again. I spoke to the people around me and they filled my courage tank and I prepared myself to write the exams again. This exam usually takes about six to eighteen months to finish it. I studied for the exams and finished it in eight weeks. I passed all six papers to the glory of God. The point is this, I could have listened to negative advice. To become all that God wants you to be, you need to have the courage to reject negative advice. It may have come from a doctor or a specialist, as long as it is not aligned with God’s Word, do not take it.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I align my life with Your Word and I declare that only God’s report will be established in my life and in my sphere of influence, in Jesus Name. Amen!

  1. I need to know what God is saying at every moment and having the courage to go above the negative advices. It takes courage to try again.

  2. This question comes to mind – What has God said and you have not aligned with?
Even when God says push, yes you will move but you have to also prepare for the push. So it is not that God has failed because he never fails but we need to be prepared for the push and acknowledge who our strength is!
