Mirror Jesus III
Heb.10:23 “Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.”
Saturdays are the days of doubt and confusion. The disciples were meeting behind closed doors for fear of the Jewish leaders. Can you imagine the ‘what-if’ scenarios that would have been playing in their minds? What if we did not all turn our backs and desert Him? What if we stood our ground and fought for our King? Perhaps we would have won, after all, we all had swords. Remember Jesus had told them to pick their swords. And the ‘what-if’s’ were endless. Peter would have said to John, what if you had stopped Judas from leaving that dinner table? Remember Peter had told John to ask Jesus who was going to betray Him.
They would have said, what if we had blocked Judas at the door and confront him with the betrayal of Jesus. What if we had beaten and tied him up, Jesus would not have died. But guess what? Salvation would not have been released. Saturday is the time when you second guess yourself. Are you at the Saturday of your life? Are you second-guessing your marriage; not sure if you are married to the right person? Are you second-guessing your career? Are you second-guessing your faith? Are you going through the period of darkness?
How do I get through Saturday, my days of doubt and confusion? Only one thing and that is, hold on to the promises of God. We shared some days ago that there are over seven thousand promises in the Bible all for you. Hold on to the promises of God, hold on and do not let go. Hold on tight to God’s promises. 2 Cor.1:20 “For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory” (emphasis added). All God promises in Christ for you is yes, it is not a no, it is not a wait, it is not a maybe. It is a resounding yes! Hold on to the promises of God, hold on to them. When you encounter messages like this, you get a promise from God and you are excited because it is like a light. But many of us let go of the light when trouble comes.
V. Raymond Edman puts it this way, “Never doubt in the dark what God has told you in the light”. You may feel confused and overwhelmed but hold on to God’s promises. When you are worrying, it is proof that you are not holding on to God’s promises. You are feeling the pressure, the symptoms in your body are screaming at you. Just hold on tight to the promises of God still.
Prayer: Father, I will hold tightly to every promise You have made to me because You never fail, in Jesus Name. Amen!
