Full Armor

Eph.6:13 “Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm” (emphasis added).

What keeps you standing and standing firm after the battle is not will power. What makes you and I remain on our feet after each battle is not our strength or our abilities. What keeps us standing after each battle is the fact that we have put on the whole armor of God. In other words, if you do not put on the whole armor of God when it is all said and done, you may not be standing. God is saying, put on every piece of God’s armor so that after all is said and done, you would still be standing, standing firm.

If you are like me, the next question is, what is this armor because I need every piece of it. Eph.6:14 “Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth…” (emphasis added). The belt of truth is the first piece of the armor. A belt keeps our trousers in place. In other words, without a belt, your trousers will come down. Without truth, you are going to experience shame. God is saying put on the belt of truth so that you will not experience shame. My prayer is that you will not experience shame in Jesus Name (say Amen). You do not need to be a prophet to know that there is shame in the future of people who enjoy and make a habit of lying. I pray that you will put on the belt of truth that eliminates shame completely from your future, in Jesus Mighty Name.

Next Paul says we are to put on, “…the body armor of God’s righteousness.” (emphasis added). I like how the New Living Translation describes it as a body armor, other translations say the breastplate of righteousness. The breastplate suggests a frontal covering only. But a body armor is like an exo-suit, providing cover for the entire body.

The body armor of righteousness – righteousness is right standing with God. Every piece of God’s armor ties us to one person and His Name is Jesus. The belt of truth is Jesus; we need to stand with truth and speak the truth. Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life…” The breastplate of righteousness is Jesus; Jesus is our righteousness in God.

The next piece, Eph.6:15 For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared” (emphasis added). The KJV translation reads, “the shoes of the propagation of the gospel of peace”. What is the good news? The news is Jesus; Jesus came, He died, and He rose again. The power of the gospel of Jesus Christ is undeniable.

Prayer: Lord, today I put on every piece of God’s armor, I successfully resist the enemy and his schemes, and I firmly stand my ground in Christ, in Jesus Name. Amen!
