Faith is… Whom!

2 Tim. 1:¹² (NCV) “…I know Jesus, the One in whom I have believed. And I am sure he is able to protect what he has trusted me with until that day.”

The first thing faith teaches us is, Faith, Overcomes Fear and Shame. The second thing faith teaches us is, Faith Inspires Boldness But Requires Humility. The third thing faith teaches us is, Faith, Is About Who And Not About What. Our faith is placed in a person and not on a process. Our faith is placed in Jesus but not on the fact that we are fasting and praying. Our faith is not in our vigils, our faith is in Jesus. Faith is about who; my faith is based on who He is, not on who I am. 2 Tim.1:¹² “…I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until the day of his return.” (emphasis added).

The NIV reads, “I know whom I have believed…” (emphasis added). Paul says, I know WHOM I have believed not WHAT I have believed. Most times, we wear ourselves out trying to know WHAT when all we need to know is WHOM. Focus on whom not what because many times in this life we do not even know what to believe. I mean, I have got to places (crossroads) in my life, that I did not even know what to believe in anymore. The only thing that kept me is because I know Whom I have believed. Everyone is going to get to points in their journey where you do not even know what to believe in anymore. But if you know whom you have believed, your faith in the Person of Jesus will sustain you. Your faith in the Person of Jesus will see you through.

Paul says, ‘I know whom I have believed’. Faith, our faith, is in the Person of God. And faith is believing something is true because you believed someone is truthful. God says a virgin conceives; faith is I believe it is true because it is God that has said so because He is truthful. God says that you will be the head and not the tail. God says all that are incensed against you will be as nothing. But when you look around you, all you see is opposition. However, you believe that something is true because you believe that someone is truthful. It is impossible for God to lie. Faith is believing something will happen because you believe someone is able.

God is able to do ALL that He says He will do. That is why I am able to believe God for great things every single time we wait on Him. I believe in my heart, I know it, that what eyes have not seen will break forth. What ears have not heard will break forth. What has not entered into the hearts of men will break forth because I believe Someone is able. I believe!
