Seek Him

1 Sam.30:8 “Then David asked the Lord, “Should I chase after this band of raiders? Will I catch them?” And the Lord told him, “Yes, go after them. You will surely recover everything that was taken from you!”

The Church must of necessity depend on God’s voice. Seek to know His heart, to hear His voice and know His direction. This is how we operate in God’s Favourite House. We depend on God’s voice; we want to know His heart. We want to hear His voice; we want to know His direction. We do not just want to move; we want to move where He wants us to move. And sometimes when God gives a direction, it can be uncomfortable. I remember one God Will Do It Again season, I was on my face, praying, asking God to move in people’s lives and do miracles for His people.

God said He was going to do the things I had asked for. However, He told me to get a bell. I said, ‘Bell – what am I going to do with the bell?’ He says, ‘You are going to ring the bell‘. I said, ‘If I do that people will think I am crazy‘. So, I came with a bell as He instructed. It was very embarrassing for me, I must confess. But I rang the bell, like a fool, and the miracles were totally unbelievable! The challenge with our generation is that we are trying to marry the world with the Kingdom. It does not work! There are all sorts of tithe debates going on and some of my Pastor friends call me to ask if I am not going to respond to it. Why should I respond to it? Except a man be born again he cannot see the Kingdom of God. The world will ask, will he enter his mother’s womb and come out again? It does not and cannot make sense to the world. A virgin conceived and gave birth. One of my very intellectual friends said, do not tell me you believe that thing. I said, I actually do! He said, come on, you went to school, how can a virgin conceive? There are some things that you cannot explain and trying to explain it to the world just would not make sense.

Tithe has nothing to do with the old covenant. It preceded the old covenant by four hundred years. Even though they were put together in the Old Testament. Note that the old covenant did not come until Moses. Abraham paid tithe to Melchizedek, please read Gen.14 and the explanation in Heb.7. Even if you back up, what do you think was the issue during the time of Cain and Abel? Where do you think that the word ‘first fruit’ came from? Adam and Eve, what do you think was the issue in the garden? God says, ‘You can eat everything but not this one’. What does that mean? When you begin to respond to tithing from the Book of Malachi, it shows that you do not even understand tithing.

Prayer (song) Precious Holy Spirit, we’re in need of You. Purify our passion, come and make us new. Standing here before You, just the way we are. Take away our weakness… Amen!
