Why, What & Where?

Isa.41:10 “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”

Why are you currently discouraged? When you drill down, you will discover truths that can help you learn from your discouragements. I have walked away from different deals, things that perhaps would have made me a billionaire by now. But because I see that the deal is going to give me a bad name, I will walk away from it.In my case, drilling down on the question ‘why am I currently discouraged’, helped me see that the reason is that I do not want to have a bad name. You need to ask yourself why because your current discouragement can help you. If you are currently discouraged about something, why is it a point of discouragement?

Sometimes we are discouraged because we are not in the limelight and we want glory. It could be because you are used to oppressing everybody but now that you can no longer oppress anybody, you feel very discouraged. Drill down on the question of why because if you do not ask why you will live a shallow life. It is a difficult question to ask, yet if you do not ask why you will live a very shallow life. After you have known, identified when and why and seen the patterns. After you have drilled down and gotten to the reason why. Then you need to ask yourself, what will God say to me now that I know why?

If you discover that the reason for your discouragement is fear for instance. The next question is, what does God say to you about being afraid? You need to get into God’s Word and find out what He says about fear. That is how you can be equipped to overpower the discouragement borne out of fear. If I am discouraged because of my future. I get what God says to me about my future and this is what He says to me, “…I know the plans I have for you… They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope (Jer.29:11). When I embrace God’s Word and what it says to me, I get over that discouragement.

The next question that helps us learn from discouragement is, where or what do I need to change? Discouragement actually reveals what we need to change. Sometimes, you need to change your surroundings. Sometimes, you just need to limit your exposure to certain people. Some certain people always bring the worst out of you, limit your exposure to them. You love them but you dodge them. Jesus loved and ministered to everyone, but He limited His exposure.

Prayer: Father, I declare that the Lord is my strength and helper, He upholds me with His victorious right hand and stands solidly beside me, in Jesus Name. Amen!
