Better Life

John 14:19 “Soon I will leave this world and they will see me no longer, but you will see me, because I will live again, and you will come alive too” (TPT, emphasis added).
The week before Easter in the Church calendar is what is known as the passion week. The passion week is the week where we commemorate the suffering of Jesus, the crucifixion, the death, and the resurrection of Jesus. The Jews call it the Passover and Jesus is the Passover Lamb. So, whether you choose to tilt towards the Jewish culture and celebrate the Passover, or tilt towards the Orthodox church culture and celebrate Easter, it really does not matter. Why is any of this important? As believers, it is important for us to celebrate the suffering, death, and the resurrection of Jesus because it is what separates our faith from all others.
The night before Jesus died, He made a very strange statement. His disciples were probably wondering what He was saying. Jesus speaking to His disciples said in John 14:19b “In just a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you’re going to see Me because I am alive and you’re about to come alive!“ (MSG, emphasis added). What a strange thing to say to people that were not dead. It is just like telling someone that is not sleeping that he or she is going to wake up. The disciples had probably concluded that Jesus had entered into another depressed mood. Or perhaps they thought that He was going through a season where He needed to put Himself together. They could not tell what was going on in Jesus’ mind. If I were one of His disciples I probably would have been wondering too. “In just a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you’re going to see Me because I am alive and you’re about to come alive!”
Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. I believe that because we are in a season where His resurrection is being celebrated, that we are about to come alive. Easter is all about coming alive. Everything in you that is losing strength, that is dying and ought to be alive will came alive again in the Name of Jesus. Everything that is dead already and ought to be alive, will come alive in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Talking about Jesus’ death and resurrection; 2 Cor.5:15 “He included everyone in His death so that everyone [that is those who receive Him] could also be included in His life, a resurrection life, A FAR BETTER LIFE than people ever lived on their own.” (MSG, emphasis added). God is saying that Jesus has come to give you and I a far better life than anything you have seen or you have experienced.
One truth we must admit about ourselves is, we want the good life. God is saying, Jesus has come to give you a better life. In fact, Only Jesus promises to give us a better life. I know we all want “the good life” and the good life means different things to different people. For some, the good life is to blow [Nigerian slang meaning to get rich quickly]. What is it to make it? It means different things to different people such as, to stop paying rent and have their own house. For some, it means to pay school fees easily. God wants you to have a better life and Only Jesus promises that.
Prayer: Father, I declare in Jesus Name, that this Easter I will come alive, in Jesus Name. Amen!
