The Workings
Ex.38:22-23 “Now Bezalel, son of Uri son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, had made all that the LORD had commanded Moses; at his side was Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, carver and designer, and embroiderer in blue, purple, and crimson yarns and in fine linen.” (Torah)
From this scripture, we see that the Spirit of God is the creative Spirit. It is a misnomer to say you are filled with the Holy Spirit and you are anything but creative. Please read Proverbs 22:29. What are you doing in front of obscure men? In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, you will not stand before obscure men, you will stand before kings. The name Bezalel means he that stays in the shadow of El-ELYON, of the Most High. If you see someone’s shadow, it means the person is nearby. Bezalel is the one who is in close contact with, perching with God. When it comes to creativity, you have to be perching with God. You have to be in God’s presence.
Another thing we need to watch out for and be cognizant of is, you need to focus and follow-through. My grandmother used to say, “When your yam begins to sprout you cover it.” For some, as soon as their yam begins to sprout, they begin to announce the harvest. When your yam begins to sprout, you cover it. Focus; creativity demands focus. Take the widow that Elisha was multiplying her oil [2 kings 4, please read], he said to her, “Then go into your house with your sons and shut the door behind you. Pour olive oil from your flask into the jars, setting each one aside when it is filled.” [2kings 4:4]. Shut the door means focus, no distractions, and follow-through. Do not celebrate prematurely. Even when it looks like you have everything in the bag, until you breast the tape, until you cross the line, do not celebrate.
We have to pay attention to collaboration. We have to cultivate a collaborative heart that allows room for the creative Spirit. Ex.38:22-23 “Now Bezalel, son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, had made all that the LORD had commanded Moses; at his side was Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, carver and designer, and embroiderer in blue, purple, and crimson yarns and in fine linen.” (Torah, emphasis added). Bezalel needed Moses and Moses needed God. But Bezalel even though filled with God’s Spirit and great ability, wisdom, and intelligence still needed Oholiab. To maximize your creativity, you need other people to link hands with you. Otherwise, you are just going to struggle. Sometimes, you are the Moses – you need to depend on God to get direction. Sometimes, you are the Bezalel and you also need Oholiab. You cannot be a lone ranger and be all that God has created you to be. God made us for community, to need each other.
Ex.31:6 “And I have personally appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, to be his assistant.” God personally put them in a relationship of collaboration. You need to pay attention to the people God is bringing into your life. I pray in the Mighty Name of Jesus that God will personally appoint the people that will collaborate with you. We must cultivate the spirit of collaboration that takes our creativity to the next level. Moses needed God and Bezalel. Bezalel needed Moses and Oholiab. None of us is stronger or more anointed than all of us.
Prayer: Father, give me a heart to work and people to work with, in Jesus Name. Amen!
