Distracted?

Luke 10:40-42 “…Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing… But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”

What is distracting you from the throne today? Is it your bank account? Sometimes, it is the busyness of work; you have to get up and go, no time for God. You cannot even carve out time to shut yourself in with God. What is on the stove today? Can you get to a place where it is not even about the number of songs that you sing? And it is because sometimes that can even be what is on the stove. You can be in the choir and be worried about the list of songs instead of the Person you are going to sing the songs to. You are worried about the chord progression, not the Person you are playing the music for.

We need to get to a place where like the songwriter says, “When the music fades and all is stripped away and I simply come, longing just to bring something that’s of worth that will bless Your heart. I’ll bring You more than a song for a song in itself is not what You have required. You search much deeper within through the way things appear You’re looking into my heart. I’m coming back to the heart of worship and it’s all about You, it’s all about You, Jesus. I’m sorry, Lord, for the thing I’ve made it when it’s all about You, it’s all about You, Jesus.” When God is brooding over us, what is cooking is not important and cannot be as important as Who is brooding over us. What is on the stove of our lives cannot come near Who is on the throne of our lives.

Worships actually starts when you and I realize that there is someone in whose presence we are in Who is greater than us. You cannot even begin to worship until you realize that there is someone who is greater than you, in whose presence you are in. It is the moment you realize that God is in this place that you can truly begin to worship. The reason people cannot, and do not worship is that they do not sense God’s presence. What differentiates the place of worship, the Church of the Living God from other gatherings is God’s presence. John said to the people, “there is one who is greater by far than I am” (John 1:15). Jesus, Himself said, there is one greater than this temple, greater than Solomon that is here and that is Me.

On the mount of transfiguration, what God was saying to Peter, James, and John is, it is not about Moses or Elijah, there is One greater. This is My beloved Son in Whom I am well pleased, hear Him. Are you going to worship Jesus or are you not going to worship Jesus? Beginning today, I am going to give you three keys to increase your presence. The first key is, Evaluate The Why Of Your Distractions. Why am I distracted? Why do I struggle to be present? Am I bored, or scared, or unhappy, or do I feel betrayed? What is your why?

Prayer: Father, I ask for the grace to eliminate distractions and I ask for the grace and strength to focus, and be still in Your presence, in Jesus Name. Amen!
