Rock Solid!

Matthew 16:18 “Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.”

Anything you build that is not built on Christ, the Word, is going to crumble. If it is your money, your finances, that you are building and it is not on Christ, it is going to crumble. If it is your marriage you are building and it is not on Christ, it is going to crumble. The economy of the world is not on Christ, it is going to crumble. And Jesus tells in Matthew 7:24-27 “Everyone who hears my words and obeys them is like a wise man who built his house on rock. It rained hard, the floods came, and the winds blew and hit that house. But it did not fall, because it was built on rock. Everyone who hears my words and does not obey them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. It rained hard, the floods came, and the winds blew and hit that house, and it fell with a big crash.”

The rock symbolizes something that regardless of the wind does not shift or shake. But if you do not build your house on the Word of God, if you do not build your finances, life, business, parenting, and children on the Word of God, you are also building but guess what?; you are building on sand. Also, note that the two houses will go up. So, the fact that your house is going up does not mean its foundation can withstand turbulence. A lot of people are deceived because their ‘house’ is going up and they think they are fine. But Jesus says, the wind, storm, turmoil, and rain will come on both houses. One house will remain standing, and the other house will crumble. The difference is one was built on the Word of God and the other was built on the philosophies of men. Our response to the unshakable Word of God is to build on it.

Four things that cannot be shaken. Number one is The Throne of God. Number two is the Word of God. Number three, the third thing that cannot be shaken is the Church of Jesus Christ. The capital letter C Church of Jesus Christ cannot be shaken. Kingdoms come and kingdoms go but the Church of Jesus remains, it cannot be shaken. Emperors come and emperors go, they attack and ridicule the Church. But by the time they have expired, the Church is still standing. Amazing! All the storms, gimmicks, and attacks of hell will not conquer the Church of Jesus Christ. The Church of Jesus is unmovable. It cannot be shaken. Why? The Church is built on the solid foundation of Jesus Christ, the revelation of Jesus as the Messiah. We will explain this further in tomorrow’s devotional.

Prayer: Father, I pray for the Church of Jesus Christ today and I declare that all the storms, gimmicks, and attacks of hell will not conquer the Church, in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Amen!
