Freedom Walk
Psalms 119:45 “And I’ll stride freely through wide open spaces as I look for your truth and your wisdom.” (MSG)
When I was in secondary school, there was that certain someone I wanted to dance with, go out with, take to the school party. I am sure you know what I am talking about. But guess what? Sometimes, that certain someone turns their back on you. So, we were never able to get the girl we wanted. Two years after secondary school, what happened to that certain someone of interest? What happened five years, ten years, fifty years, a hundred years down the line? It does not matter anymore. What matters most is pleasing God.
Psalms 119:45 “I will walk with you in complete freedom, for I seek to follow your every command.” (TPT). To live in freedom, to exit the prison of pretending, you need to pay attention to what God says. That is what matters most and that is when you can really live in freedom. Why? It is because if God likes you, and you like you, and people do not like you, that is their problem. If God likes me and He does. God does not only love me, by God’s grace, He likes me. If God likes me and I like me, and you do not like me, that is your problem! So, the first of three prisons that Jesus wants us to exit from is the Prison of Pretending.
The second prison Jesus is The Door for us to exit from is the Prison of Unforgiveness. Like someone rightly said, holding unto unforgiveness is like drinking poison and expecting someone else to die. You have to walk out of that prison of unforgiveness. Forgiveness is tripartite. First, you need to ask for forgiveness. Second, you need to offer forgiveness. And third, you need to accept forgiveness. When it comes to forgiveness these three things must be in place. You must be able to ask for forgiveness, you must be able and willing to offer forgiveness, and you must be able and willing to accept forgiveness.
Some people are too proud to ask for forgiveness and such people remain in the prison of unforgiveness. Some people are unwilling to offer forgiveness and that keeps them in the prison of forgiveness. Some people are unwilling to accept forgiveness. They can ask for it, they can offer it, but they always look down on themselves and do not accept forgiveness. Even this will still be a problem. To miss any of these three, is to be stuck in a prison of unforgiveness. You need to just take that step and receive forgiveness from people you do life with, your colleagues, your spouse, your children, your boss, and from God. You need to accept forgiveness.
Prayer: Father, by Your grace I exit the prison of pretending and the prison of unforgiveness through The Door, Jesus and I walk in total freedom, in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Amen!
