Church Connects

Ephesians 4:25 “…In Christ’s body we’re all connected to each other…” (MSG, emphasis added).

In Christ’s body, we are all connected because without connection there can be no traction. Romans 12:4-5 Just as there are many parts to our bodies, so it is with Christ’s body. We are all parts of it, and it takes every one of us to make it complete, for we each have different work to do. So we belong to each other, and each needs all the others.” (LB). God wants us in His body connected, just as the physical body is connected. Someone says, ‘Pastor, I am just a pinkie finger, I am not very useful’. Please don’t do it, but if you try to cut off your pinkie finger, you will discover how useful it is. You are not a clone. You are unique. God is deliberate about your invention. And God never makes clones, never! He only makes originals.

God loves diversity. Therefore, in the church, we should not only accept and tolerate diversity, but we should also celebrate diversity. One thing that holds people back is thinking they are not very significant in the body. Never confuse prominence with significance. What people are really saying when they say they are not significant is, ‘I am not prominent’. But God is saying every member is significant. Some members are not prominent, but they are significant, and the body cannot do without them. Can you see your heart? But if somebody removes it, what will happen to you? There are things you can see, things that are prominent, but they are not significant as far as human life is concerned.

Can you guess what a man notices first when he sees a woman? A research states that when a man sees a woman, the first thing he notices is the woman’s hair not what you were thinking. According to that research, a woman’s hair communicates first to the man before anything else. So, hint, hint, ladies pay attention to your hair – just saying! The hair is prominent for ladies, but ladies can cut their hair and still function. In fact, some ladies are more beautiful when they cut their hair. The lungs on the other hand cannot be seen but try cutting off the lungs and the person will cease to exist. Many things are not prominent, but they are significant. There are certain things that when you get rid of them you cannot function.

Do not mistake prominence for significance. I want you to write this down, highlight it, and circle it, the most important work you can do in the Kingdom is going to be in obscurity. Take it from me. The most important work you can do for God’s Kingdom is going to be in obscurity. If you insist on prominence, you are going to miss God.

Prayer: Father, I thank You for my special function in the body of Christ, in Jesus Name. Amen!
