Trust & Wait

Psalms 31:¹⁵ “My life, my every moment, my destiny—it’s all in your hands. So I know you can deliver me from those who persecute me relentlessly.” (TPT)

We will start today’s devotional from where we stopped yesterday in the story of Joseph. We said that even though Joseph had served Pharaoh’s cupbearer with his gift by interpreting his dream. And went further to plead with the cupbearer to remember him when he is restored, the Bible says in Genesis 40:²³ “The chief cupbearer, however, did not remember Joseph; he forgot him.” (NIV). Again, we pray that the people who need to forget you will forget you until it is time for them to remember you (say Amen). Do not let people remember you prematurely.

Do not force things; allow God to be God. Trust me, I know that it can be painful, particularly when you have been seeking or desiring something. And you have worked so hard for what you are seeking and desiring, and then last minute you were not remembered, completely forgotten. Most times, when people forget us, we tend to wonder if God has also forgotten us, if God still hears our prayers, or if God still care about us. Don’t worry, God is setting you up for greatness. In fact, may the cupbearer not remember you on time.

Look at it this way: what if Joseph had sent messages to the cupbearer to remind him? What if the cupbearer had been reminded, and he made a case for Joseph? And then Joseph had been released from the prison, what do you think would have happened to Joseph? He probably will find his way back to his father’s house or perhaps wander off to another country. Joseph would have missed his divine appointment. So, I pray that the people who need to forget you will forget you so that you can come in contact with the right remembrance that will release you into your divine appointment in the Name of Jesus. And when they do forget you, yes, it will be painful, no doubt. But you need to realize that God has you covered.

Joseph remained in that prison until it was time. Then God caused Pharaoh to have a dream, and when the same cupbearer noticed the countenance of the king, he remembered the man in prison who had the Spirit of God. The cupbearer was so convinced about Joseph’s giftings that he literally put his life on the line. Remember, the cupbearer had been to prison and witnessed his colleague beheaded. So, for him to put Joseph forward at that level, he was putting his life. What if Joseph didn’t perform? But at the right time, he was ready to put his life on the line for Joseph. Wait for your time because it will surely come. In fact, it is here. Wait, don’t force it!

Prayer: Father, I trust You to orchestrate my life, my every moment, and my destiny according to Your plans for me and for Your glory, in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Amen!
