Sacrifice Accordingly

Genesis 12:^4-5 “So Abram departed as the Lord had instructed… Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran. He took his wife, Sarai, his nephew Lot, and all his wealth—his livestock and all the people he had taken into his household at Haran—and headed for the land of Canaan.”

For many of you reading this, Heaven is challenging you to go back to simply believing. Life can get so complicated, and a lot of us have forgotten the art of just simply believing God. Do you remember the time you used to simply believe? Can you remember how peaceful your life was? How uncluttered it was. God wants you to believe boldly because with God, nothing shall be impossible. Heaven is challenging you to be deliberate about living thankfully, seeking wisdom, and believing boldly with all your heart, and you will for the rest of this year in the Name of Jesus. Believing boldly leads to sacrificing accordingly.

Our fourth lesson from Abraham is Sacrifice Accordingly. Abraham believed so boldly that when it was time to sacrifice, he sacrificed accordingly. The first sacrifice was to take a step out of his father’s house. So, if you believe and you don’t take that step, you are not sacrificing accordingly. You need to sacrifice accordingly. Remember, miracles happen outside of your comfort zone. Isn’t it ironic that as human beings we work, earn, and do everything to make our environment comfortable? We make our homes, cars, and churches comfortable, but miracles happen outside of our comfort zones. And that is where the sacrifices happen.

Sacrifice is sacrifice because it is sacrificial. I hope that makes sense. Sacrifice is sacrifice because it is uncomfortable. It is not a sacrifice if it is comfortable. David had gone to the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite to erect an altar to the Lord so that the plague would stop according to the Word of the Lord. David’s intention was to buy the land and build an altar to the Lord. But Araunah offered the land, the oxen, and even the wood for the sacrifice to David for free. But David said in 2 Samuel 24:^24-25 “…No, I insist on buying it, for I will not present burnt offerings to the Lord my God that have cost me nothing.” So David paid him fifty pieces of silver for the threshing floor and the oxen. David built an altar there to the Lord and sacrificed burnt offerings and peace offerings. And the Lord answered his prayer for the land…”

David was teaching us that when you are walking with God, you walk on the back of sacrifices. What David was saying in other words is that for him to offer something to God, it must cost him something. So, for you to experience a dimension of God, it must be outside of your comfort zones. So, you have to sacrifice accordingly.

Prayer: Father, I pray that my living thankfully, seeking wisdom, and believing boldly will lead me to sacrificing accordingly, in the Name of Jesus. Amen!
