The Difference

John 11:25 “Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.”

Do you know that we ought to celebrate Easter much more than we celebrate Christmas? Why? It is because what separates Christianity from other religions is not that our Redeemer was born. What separates Christianity from Islam, Buddhism, Judaism, and Orisha worship is not that our Redeemer, Leader, and Saviour was born. Buddha had a birth date. Mohammed had a birth date. Moses had a birth date. Sango had a birth date. Jesus also had a birth date. What separates Christianity is not just that Jesus died. Buddha died, Muhammad died, Sango died, and Moses also died. What separates Christianity from other religions is that Jesus does not just have a death date, Jesus has a resurrection date. Hallelujah!

On the third day, Jesus rose from the dead just like He said He would. Buddha does not have a resurrection date. Muhammad does not have a resurrection date. Moses does not have a resurrection date. Sango does not have a resurrection date, in fact, he committed suicide. But on the third day, Jesus rose again from the dead. The whole of Christianity stands on the resurrection of Jesus. We live and we can face tomorrow simply because Jesus is alive. The resurrection of Jesus is either fabricated or it is the greatest event in history. However, beyond any shadow of doubt, we know that the resurrection of Jesus is obviously not fabricated.

There is too much historical proof that Jesus walked the earth, died, was buried, and was raised on the third day. I encourage you to listen to the resource Christianity vs. Islam on the God’s Favourite House Thrive Podcast on iTunes where we proved that Jesus lives forever. So, because Jesus lives, no matter what your story is or has been, you can face tomorrow. Jesus can give you a new beginning, a fresh start. Jesus can take you from your current level and lift you up. How and why can He do that? It is because of resurrection power.

However, because our Saviour lives, there are two things we have to wrestle with. On one hand, we are excited, thinking about Him, and thinking about eternity. We should live for eternity. On the other hand, we have a life to live here on earth with bills to pay, children to feed, school fees to pay, and a destiny to fulfil. On one hand particularly when we consider the happenings in the world, we want to be eternally focused. But on the other hand, we do not want to be earthly irrelevant. There is a constant tussle. Living life longing for eternity tends to make us not improve our here and now. It is a real tension, and it is a season I myself have had to deal with.

Prayer: Father, I celebrate the birth, life, death, and resurrection of my Lord, Jesus, in Jesus Name. Amen!
