Jesus Is Alive

Acts 2:32 “God raised Jesus from the dead, and we are all witnesses of this.”

What separates Christianity from every other religion is that Jesus is Alive! Happy Easter! Happy resurrection, Jesus is Alive! We will be taking a break from our previous study and turning our focus to Easter. Our anchor test for this season is Mark 16:5When they entered the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a white robe sitting on the right side. The women were shocked” The precursor to this is, it was Friday, and Jesus was crucified. All the disciples were scared, sad, angry, confused, and behind closed doors. They were saying, ‘Was this not He that said He will break down the temple and raise it up in three days? Is this not the same person that raised Lazarus from the dead? Is this not the same person that spoke to us and our hearts were on fire?

But this same Jesus was dead. The disciples were locked up, and the women could not take care of His physical body because of Sabbath and that is huge. And very early on Sunday morning, they went to the tomb to take care of Jesus’ body. And at His tomb, they met a young man in a white robe sitting on the right side, and the women were shocked. The young man they saw sitting there was an angel. So, I do not get what all these pictures of angels necessarily having wings and being babies or midgets are all about. Many of us have encountered angels without knowing. Many people have entertained angels in their hospitality, and they did not know it.

Mark 16:6but the angel said, “Don’t be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Look, this is where they laid his body.” Jesus is Alive! Sadly, a lot of people are looking for Jesus that is crucified, looking for Jesus that is incapacitated, looking for Jesus that is dead. We do not quite say it like that, but we do not pray as we ought to pray with faith in our hearts. We do not believe as we should. When we come to worship, we do not come to God with our hearts on fire. We just come to God because it is the tradition, and we are seeking Jesus that was dead or appears dead in our lives.

You look at a situation you used to believe God, you used to say to God, oh, I believe you, I believe I’ll get married this year, I believe I will build a house, I believe I will build this business. I believe I will get into investing, I believe, I believe, I believe and all suddenly, it is as if Jesus was crucified, and you have come to seek Jesus that is crucified. He is not here, He is risen. Jesus is alive, He is risen from the dead. Easter is the most important period for the believer.

Prayer (song): Alive, alive, my Saviour is alive. Alive forever more, the sting of death is gone!

Alive in Him, I have eternal life. My Jesus is Alive. Sing hallelujah (x2)… Amen!
